Track 1: General Surgery and its specialties

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland (depending on local reference patterns). They also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, and hernias. In the 2000s minimally invasive surgery became more prevalent.. In the year 2015, approximately 25.0% of all surgical procedures are expected to be inpatient procedures; the remaining surgeries are expected to be performed in freestanding facilities, physician offices, or in hospitals as outpatient procedures. The Global surgery market is expected to reach $12.1 billion by 2020.

Glycemia is a condition of glucose or sugar in the blood. High glycemic food causes a larger rise in blood glucose, which can last for a longer time as well. Surgical oncology is used to diagnose, stage and treat cancer, and to manage certain cancer-related symptoms.  It focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. surgical oncologist refers to a general surgical oncologist (a subspecialty of general surgery), but thoracic surgical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists and so forth can all be considered surgeons who specialize in treating cancer patients. After surgical intervention to the breast, complications may arise related to wound healing. As in other types of surgery, hematoma (post-operative bleeding), seroma (fluid accumulation), or incision-site breakdown (wound infection) may occur. Breast hematoma due to an operation will normally resolve with time but should be followed up with more detailed evaluation if it does not. Breast abscess can occur as post-surgical complication, for example after cancer treatment or reduction mammaplasty. Bariatric surgery is an operation on the stomach and/or intestines that helps patients with extreme obesity to lose weight.

Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve functions, but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance. Reconstructive surgery is generally covered by most health insurance policies, although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly. Browlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. BOTOX and Body contouring Pediatric plastic surgery is plastic surgery performed on children. Its procedures are most often conducted for reconstructive or cosmetic purposes. In children, this line is often blurred, as many congenital deformities impair physical function as well as aesthetics. Body dysmorphic disorder (also known as BDD, body dysmorphia, dysmorphic syndrome, or dysmorphophobia), is a disorder that involves belief that one's own appearance is unusually defective and is worthy of being hidden or fixed.

 Track 3: Ophthalmic Surgery

Eye surgery, also known as ocular surgery, is surgery performed on the eye or its adnexa, typically by an ophthalmologist. The eye is a fragile organ, and requires extreme care before, during, and after a surgical procedure. An expert eye surgeon is responsible for selecting the appropriate surgical procedure for the patient, and for taking the necessary safety precautions.

LASIK commonly referred to as laser eye surgery or laser vision correction, is a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The LASIK surgery is performed by an ophthalmologist who uses a laser or microkeratome to reshape the eye's cornea in order to improve visual acuity. For most patients, LASIK provides a permanent alternative to eyeglasses or contact lenses.Cataract and Glaucoma Surgery. This surgery uses a laser to reshape your cornea. It corrects mild-to-moderate nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Dependence on glasses or contact lenses after the surgery reduces. The surgery most likely takes less than 30 minutes. Conditions commonly evaluated and treated by our physicians include retinal tears and detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, ocular trauma, ocular tumors, inflammatory ocular conditions, hereditary retinal diseases and a variety of less common, highly complex disorders.  We utilize the most advanced, state-of-the-art techniques to provide the best treatment available today for vision threatening diseases. Oculoplastic surgeons are ophthalmologists who specialize in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the periorbital and facial tissues including the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, cheeks, orbit (bony cavity around the eye), and lacrimal (tear) system. Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is a same-day procedure in which the surgeon creates an opening in the bone between the blocked tear sac and the nose.

Otolaryngologists diagnose and manage diseases of the ears, nose, sinuses, larynx (voice box), mouth, and throat, as well as structures of the neck and face. About 35 million people develop chronic sinusitis each year, making it one of the most common health complaints. These specialists differ from many physicians in that they are trained in both medicine and surgery.

In the head and neck area, otolaryngologists are trained to treat infections, benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, and deformities of the face. They perform both cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Otology delivers expert care for hearing, balance, and facial nerve disorders, inner ear and related skull base brain tumors, and diagnosis and treatment of complex vestibular problems. Endoscopic endonasal surgery is a minimally invasive technique that allows a surgeon to go through the nose to correct problems or remove a tumor in various areas of the brain and the top of the spine. Rhinology and sinus surgery is a subspecialty that manages nasal and sinus problems. Common problems we treat are allergies, nasal obstruction, and sinusitis. The Laryngology and Voice Disorders diagnoses diseases of the larynx including benign and malignant tumors, voice disorders and alterations of laryngeal function. Market analysis and scope of Surgery Conference:

·         Although being a phenomenal convention, Surgery is quite a difficult conference since surgeons are mostly busy in emergency and annual cases.

·         With the introduction of live surgeries, surgeons these days prefer video presentations and live surgery workshops

The surgery conferences as seen in the past years have been more in UK, UAE, Germany and USA. When related to the average income of a surgeon in those regions, it is quite possible to find out the potential attendees. An approximate coverage of Surgery conference (in percent):

·         USA: 15.71%

·         UK: 25.14%

·         UAE: 25.45%

·         Canada: 12.27%

·         Australia: 1.20%

·         Germany: 14.49%

·         Spain: 5.72%

The global surgical market reached $385.5 million in 2012 and $419.7 million in 2013. This market is expected to grow to $631.9 million in 2018, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5% from 2013 to 2018. Just like hospital costs, it’s difficult trying to quantify the costs of a particular surgery, as total payments are often broken down into hospital expenses.

The top three surgical procedures in terms of overall cost were:

·         Spinal fusion surgery ($11.26 billion P.A.)

·         Angioplasty of the heart ($11 billion P.A.)

·         Replacement surgery ($10.36 billion P.A.)

Dear Participants,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 4th International conference and Exhibition on Surgery 2015 in association with CARDIOMERSION, I welcome you to Crowne Plaza Dubai from 5th to 7th October 2015. Surgery and allied super specialities have undergone vast expansion and evolution in the last decade .With changing time surgery and anaesthesia techniques have improved tremendously and the focus has shifted towards minimally invasive and endoscopic or Robotic assisted procedures. At the same time technology has transformed completely to keep pace with changing times and medical as well as laboratory and imaging support to facilitate complex high risk procedures has also improved tremendously. It has now become difficult to keep updated on rapid development in each field and to understand how these developments can be utilized fully in a co-ordinated manner to give the best to the patient especially in the form of Hybrid procedures. Moreover every patient has multiple comorbidities and many of these require combined or tandem interventions. There is need for an integrated approach to deliver comprehensive care to the patient.

The theme for this conference is: From Drugs to Devices - Expecting the Right Care

During this 3 day conference we would like to present a comprehensive update on each surgical speciality along with discussions on future prospects that can extend the best care to the patients. There will be guest lectures by reputed speakers as well as paper and poster sessions for youngsters   providing ample opportunity for every participant to interact and share experiences. Along with this the selected abstracts will be published in our open access journals which have wide circulation.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 4th International Conference and Exhibition on Surgery which will be held from October 05-07, 2015 in Crowne Plaza, Dubai, UAE.

This meeting is one of the largest meetings related to all aspects of surgery in the region, and great interest is shared with the entire surgeon community.

We are currently preparing for this conference which is designed to cover the latest advances in all aspects of general surgery and its specialties; like and not limited to Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Oral Surgery, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Surgery, Urology, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Perioperative Care and Anaesthesiology

Holding this conference in Dubai gives an exceptional favor, as Dubai is one of the few cities in the world that has undergone such a rapid transformation – from a humble beginning as a pearl-diving center – to one of the fastest growing cities on earth. Dubai became so well-known, as it continues to build the first, attractive, tallest and the largest constructions in the world. It constantly dwells in a suppressive competition with itself trying to magnetize tourists to a dreamy world of tourist attractions and unheard of luxuries.

I hope you will visit this fabulous city and enjoy attending our Conference and Exhibition.

yours sincerely,

Abdulnasser Kaadan, M.D., Ph.D.
