Biography

His surgical training began Dr. Philippe SCHUCHT in the townships of South Africa in traumatology. After a surgical and neurological basic training in Zurich, he studied at the Department of Neurosurgery in Bern for neurosurgeons, where he devoted himself early complex operations for brain tumors and neurosurgery in children. A Fellowship with Prof. Duffau in Montpellier, the pioneer of surgery niedrigmaligner brain tumors also contributed to his training in how a Fellowship with Prof. Berger and Prof. Lawton in San Francisco, two leading luminaries of neuro-oncology and vascular neurosurgery. His scientific training began Dr. Philippe SCHUCHT at the Brain Research Institute in Zurich, where he participated in the investigation of possible therapies in spinal cord injury. In collaboration with Prof. Aguzzi neuropathology in Zurich he investigated nerve transplants and prions. In Prof. Duffau in Montpellier he explored the Motor Control Network and the importance of epilepsy in brain tumors. His current research focuses on maximizing patient safety during brain tumor surgery and the latest technology, which contribute to the optimization of tumor removal. Dr. Philippe SCHUCHT is a member of the Swiss Society of Neurosurgery, the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research, the Swiss glioma Networks and the European Association of Neuro-oncology. He is co-founder of the Swiss Young Neurosurgeons which supports the education of young neurosurgeons in Switzerland and was its first president. He founded and is president of the Swiss Neurosurgeons International that humanitarian in developing countries, especially in Myanmar (Burma) and Vietnam, is active.
