Biography
Constantine Constantoyannis is a Neurosurgeon specialized in Functional Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery. He graduated from Medical School at Athens University, Greece, in 1990. He started his clinical career as a resident at the Department of Neurosurgery (1993-1999) at the University of Patras in West Greece with Prof. N. Papadakis. In 2001 he accomplished his PhD in Neurosurgery with a clinical study on Transcranial Doppler Sonography in subarachnoid hemorrhage. After two fellowships, (2001) at the University of Umea (Sweden) and at the University of British Columbia (Canada) (2002-2003) with Prof. Christopher Honey, he completed his training in Functional Neurosurgery. Since 2004 he became a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Patras University Hospital and he is currently an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical School in Patras, Greece. He is head of the Functional Neurosurgery program in Patras and his clinical and research interests are: Deep Brain stimulation in Parkinson’s disease and dystonia; trigeminal neuralgia; spinal stimulation; chronic pain; minimal invasive spinal surgery. He has published more than 90 papers in scientific journals or books and he is member of editorial/advisory boards of 14 journals.
