Biography
She teaches general surgery at the University of Bologna. She conducted several postgraduate and undergraduate surgery courses (4 th year and 5th year of the degree course). She has an active role in the residency training programme. She taught general surgery to general surgery, thoracic surgery and radiotherapy residents, as well as to neurophysiology technicians and obstetrics. She is tutor of general surgery residents.
She was consultant surgeon for hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at Perrino hospital of Brindisi, where she has performed a large number of HBP operations.
She has performed, as first surgeon, more than 7,000 operations of general surgery at the Department of Surgery of the University of Bologna. The documentation relating to surgery she has performed has been certified by the director general of the hospital and by the head of the Department of Surgery. This documentation is available for examination on request. The fields of major interest are: hepato-pancreato-biliary-surgery, oncological colorectal surgery and emergency surgery.She has membership in International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association - IHPBA,Società Italiana di Chirurgia and Società Italiana di Chirurgia Oncologica.
Research Interest
-She has done scientific research on many topics with a particular focus on gastrointestinal and hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery. Many publications are government funded (MURST funds).
She was awarded two European grants for liver surgery research.
She has been invited as a lecturer or chairman to several national or international Congresses.
She was author or co-author of 204 scientific papers. She has written 2 chapters for scientific texts.
She has made 180 presentations to international or national congresses (130 were published in the congress proceedings, 88 as full papers)
