Deputy Director for Science and Research, Central Military Hospital Prague. After completing the faculty of general medicine in 1978 he joined as an internal aspirant at the Surgical Clinic of the Faculty Hospital in Vinohrady. In 1981 he passed the 1st degree of surgery and in 1983 he defended his candidacy at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine (Diagnosis and treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding). In 1984, he worked for 4 months at the Surgical Clinic in Uppsala, Sweden, and from 1984 until 1992 he worked as an assistant clinic. In 1986, he passed the 2nd degree of surgery. Between 1986 and 1988 he completed several short-term study stays at the oncology department in Berlin - Buch. In 1991 he graduated from a postgraduate surgical school at Hammersmith Hospital in London. In 1992 he habilitated from surgery (Friedly surgery in the treatment of choledocholithiasis) and until 1994 he worked as an assistant professor of surgery at the Surgical Clinic of the Faculty Hospital in Vinohrady (3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University). In 1994, he joined the IKEM Cardiology and Transplantation Surgery Clinic and, after completing a four month internship at the Virchow University Surgical Clinic in Berlin, started a liver transplant program at IKEM. In 1997 and 1998, he completed his monthly study stays in Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and UCLA in Los Angeles. In 1998 he founded the IKEM Transplantation Surgery Clinic, where he worked as its head until 2004. Since 2004, when she was appointed Professor of Surgery at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine in Prague, she works as the Head of the Department of Surgery at the University Hospital and Head of the Surgical Clinic of the 2nd Medical Faculty of the Charles University and the University Hospital. In 2008-7, 4 months was the lead physician 7. Field Hospital in Kabul. Since 2010 he has been the Deputy Director of the UCN - VFN for Science and Research.
